Findsio, an online reverse search service operated by Veknika Inc., announced that its phone, email and image search tools are now fully integrated across Latin America. With the update, users in the region have a way to check unknown numbers, email addresses and photos linked to potential scams, the company said.
The company said the expanded coverage responds to a rise in fraudulent calls, deceptive messages and fake online profiles reported across several Latin American markets, including Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Colombia. Until now, according to the company, the tools available for checking the origin of a number or an image were not configured with data built for those markets.
What Changes for Users in the Region
With the update, users in Latin America can run a search and receive a spam risk score, along with any publicly available information linked to a phone number, an email address or an image. The company specified that it works the same way the service already operated in other regions, so the difference is not in the type of query, but in the data behind it in each country.
In practical terms, that means a query initiated from the region returns the same set of elements the service offers in other markets: a possible name match, associated profiles on social media or dating apps, and the spam risk score. All of that information, the company noted, is drawn from publicly available sources, not from private records supplied by carriers or platforms.
Company Statement
"Scam calls and fake profiles are a daily problem for a lot of people in Latin America, and until now the tools available to check a number or a photo weren't built for this region," said Jordan Ellis, Director of Communications at Findsio. "Bringing full coverage here means people can run the same kind of check that already existed elsewhere, using data relevant to their own country."
The statement sums up the framing the company gave the announcement: the service is not debuting in the region with different features, but rather bringing the Latin American experience in line with the other markets where it was already available. That is the scope of the news, according to the company itself, and not a change in the data model the platform uses.
Scale of the Service
Findsio operates in more than 150 countries and is used by more than 14,000 people a day, according to the company. The service lets users search a phone number, an email address or an image to check for a possible name match, associated profiles on social media or dating apps, and a spam risk score, using information gathered from publicly available sources.
The figure of more than 150 countries describes the service's prior footprint; this week's announcement refers specifically to the full integration of Latin American coverage within that footprint, with the markets of Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Colombia cited by the company as examples.
Availability
The Latin America coverage update is now available to all Findsio users, including those on the company's 7-day trial. The company did not announce further changes to how the service works or to its geographic reach outside the region mentioned.
The announcement also does not introduce new search categories: the three modes cited — phone, email and image — are the same ones the platform describes in the rest of the markets where it operates. According to the company, the result of each query is limited to the spam risk score and the public data associated with the identifier searched.
